Under The Bus

Props to the Maryland Transportation Authority police for investigating the beatdown NINE savage black middle school kids put on some pretty little white woman as a hate crime and for actually having the temerity to understand that black people can commit such crimes. I’m generally not a fan of hate crime laws because they’re always associated with violence and those violent acts already carry sufficient penalty so it bugs me that a white person beating up a black person is considered a worse crime than identical acts a white person may commit while beating up another white, but we have the laws so I guess they should be enforced regardless of the racial mix of perpetrator(s) and victim(s).

Anyway, my question is where is Al Sharpton, Jesse Jackson, the NAACP (especially that piece of shit “Doc” Cheatham), the ACLU and everyone else on this? If it would have been nine white trash Hampden wiggers who committed this crime not only would the race baiters be here in record time, but it’d be the top story on the national news for a week. As it is this story just merits a link from The Drudge Report:

“Woman viciously attacked by 9 students on Baltimore bus…”
Under the heading “SEASON’S BEATINGS”

Oh, and nice job by the parents of the accused for attempting to cover for their kids by saying whitey spit in their little angels’ faces, brandished knives and got what was coming to them for doing so. I guess they didn’t realize that busses have cameras in them and police were able to discern the attack was completely unprovoked and they’re complete failures as parents, which makes them failures as human beings.

I live in the county so I’m not exposed to this shit as much as I would if I lived in the city, but between the crime there (which has been exported out my way to some extent thanks to the subway, er, Metro) and the tax increases and the ridiculous benefits we provide illegals that aren’t available to our own taxpaying families from the state I am, for the first time, getting fed up enough to be serious about moving out of this godforsaken state. It’s a shame too, because Maryland is a beautiful state and conveniently located on the east coast, but enough is enough. I’m a hard working, tax paying, home owning, solvent white man raising two good children. More and more it appears Maryland doesn’t want my kind within its borders.

    Amen, Cheese.

Interesting how the dumbfuck kids tried to play the race card without having the smarts to understand that it’s always trumped by the camera card. Oh how they must hate whitey and his cameras!

I say you should move to Ohio. :o)

midwestie: the kids didn’t try to play the race card, they just lied about what happened.

SC: I’m glad you wrote about this, because I was about to and still might. If the races were reversed, this clearly would be a huge story - and would be reported as such. As it is, CNN didn’t even mention the race of the assailants, and you can be sure if the races were reversed, they would have. It’s like they’re so scared of being labeled racist that they’re tiptoeing around the issue. (Though it also happens the other way - the coverage for the black girl who killed the other black girl for her cell phone was also scant… at least this is being reported - is it because she’s white and not just another black-on-black crime? maybe)

However, I also think you took your argument too far, just as CNN swung the pendulum too far. Because the state might not be set up for you - as a “hard working, tax paying, home owning, solvent white man raising two good children” - but it’s also certainly not set up for these black kids living in the city, either. I don’t need to give you the numbers about underfunded, miserable schools here, and the failure of social programs and parents and city government. The system might not be set up for you, but it’s not set up for them, either.

I have no idea why you brought up the illegal immigrant issue in this argument, though. Talk about a non-issue that conservatives keep bringing up and trying to make a wedge issue. Have you been listening to the Ron Clark show or something?

I’m sorry, but I am over the entire “the system is failing these children” argument. I grew up in section 8 housing with a single mother who could get no help from the system for me because she was white and had a full-time job. She couldn’t get assistance for summer camps to keep me off the street or for after-school programs or WIC or anything. She was working poor and that was good enough for the system to tell her to fuck off. The difference between me now and those kids in 20 years is that she cared about what I’d grow in to and did her best to keep me out of the soup. Those little animals don’t have that. It starts at home; not with the system. Nothing and no amount of money spent can change that. And, frankly, if this generation is lost, lock them up so they can’t procreate and repeat the mistakes of their shitty parents.

I’m no expert in the area like you, but I have the opinion that city schools are only underfunded due to woeful mismanagement on North Ave. Less money is spent on my kid in his school in the county and I don’t have a problem with the quality of his education. Yet. And I never did hear where that $40 million or whatever went that MOM bailed the school system out of with the state a few years back.

It was just an example as to why this state is going to crap, but if you don’t see the problem with illegal immigration you’re obviously trying to not see it. There are proposals to give free tuition to illegals, drivers licenses, public housing assistance, medical care, etc., all on the public’s dime. That’s money that could go to the savages who attack innocent bus riders or, even better, to not necessitate a record tax increase. I went into a McD’s near my house last week to get a happy meal for my kid and couldn’t find a cashier who could understand my order. I’m not saying those people are necessarily illegal, but if they’re not I bet someone who lives with them is.

(BTW, a McD’s manager wound up having to take my order. He was the only one who was bilingual.)

Epiph: From the post, I did mistake the kids’ lie for the parents’ lie. Shame on the even dumber (presumably black) parents, either for presuming “whitey” taunted their kids or for sticking up for their savage kids’ behavior in general. It’s not wrong to believe what your kids say, but it is wrong to excuse bad behavior.

It’s like you guys are describing a completely lost subculture. I’m with Cheese on this–no amount of school money is going to fix what’s broken in the homes. Parents have to want to fix their own, and these clearly don’t.

Why should the Cheeses stick around and let this blight affect their lives when they can just leave? I can see why people would want their money, but it’s not like it will do anything but perpetuate the madness.

For the record, apparently there were kids on the bus who were not part of the attack and were claiming the white people were using “the ‘n’ word.” Ergo, whitey provoked the attack. I don’t think anyone’s buying it though, espcially since the bus driver isn’t supporting the claim.

BTW, I can’t move to Ohio. Between the Browns, Bengals and Buckeye fans I’d have no place to hide.

The cities are the 3 C’s and the teams are the 3 B’s. So true!!!

I suppose you could land in Toledo and cheer for the Mud Hens. OR NOT.

Time for Aitch to lobby for you to move west, young man.

I hope your cynicism isn’t the rule, but I fear it is.

If you read my comment, I did say parents, who are failing their kids in more ways than anything else is. But there are tons of parents who aren’t. Why am I in front of a class of 37? 41? Why don’t I have textbooks? Can you honestly say that it’s not a system failure for that to occur? Of course it is. It’s not all the parents’ fault.

I’ve been following this piece of news quite a bit because it took place in my neighborhood.
There’s been a lot of tension on and off between students coming from outside the neighborhood to attend the schools at the Robert Poole Building, and the neighborhood itself. There was an incident with ACCE students earlier this year (a charter in the same Robert Poole building as these kids who go to the Robert Poole Jr. High). The kids don’t live in the neighborhood, I don’t know what neighborhood they are from, and the residents don’t like them either, justified or not.
But this is how the city has decided to do things - bus kids all over the city to places where they don’t reside. And, not a single ACCE student is from Hampden.
Robert Poole Jr. High kids have been observed by some of my friends doing lots of nasty stuff in the neighborhood before, while waiting for the bus. There are also a number of white kids in the neighborhood that are equally as nasty (and frighteningly dangerous). Many are graduates of Robert Poole, or attend Robert Poole, if they made it that far.
That school I think has produced some really unshining examples as students. I gotta think they are feeding them lead paint chips over at the Robert Poole building. Thankfully, this is the last year the Jr. High at Robert Poole will be open.
I do hope they throw the book at those kids, really. However the fact is, that bussing African American kids into what was, until recently, an entirely an all white neighborhood with a history of KKK activism (they marched on the Ave. when I first moved to B-more) is a recipe for disaster.
Coincidentally, 1 block from where the bus incident happened: in the late 1990s at the old Showalters Restaurant/bar (now Rocket to Venus), two black men went into the all-white bar to watch a Mike Tyson fight. The poor fools cheered for Tyson and a fight ensued, the glass was broken out of the front of the restaurant and the men were beaten to a pulp by an angry mob and taken away in ambulances. Tons of cops, not one black cop showed up. And all the neighbors came out into the street from 34th and Chestnut area using liberal use of the N word and saying they got what they deserved.

One more thing…I will add that African Americans, a number of years ago moved into briefly only to get harrassed into leaving. Someone even had all their windows shot out in the 80s.

  10. 10 standingcheese

I’m not going to say racism doesn’t exist and blacks never get the short end. But everything has gotten so much more ridiculous since the late 90s that I’m willing to bet a lot more gets brought to light now then it did then, even if it was fewer than 10 years ago. Maybe that’s good, but what’s bad is the double standard regarding racially motivated violence now that couldn’t be more apparent.

And to be honest, I can see people starting to cover for whites in light of stuff like this. It’s getting to where you can’t even say hi to a black person without being branded a racist. And god help you if you defend yourself against a black person.

There is a system failer. The failure is massive corruption in the Baltimore City School system. The Baltimore school system (supposedly) spends more dollars per student then most (all?) the counties in the state. Where the hell is it going? We’re talking 10’s of millions of dollars that flat out cannot be accounted for. It’s surely NOT making it to the teachers/students/facilities where it SHOULD be going.

And hence one of my many problems with hate crime charges. How do prosecutors and judges quantify how large a role race plays in an altercation like this? Is it necessary to prove that race is the primary motivator? Or if someone screams out “white bitch” or “nigger” while flailing on somebody is it automatically a hate crime as long as the participants are of different races? It’s all just so fucking arbitrary and I have absolutely no faith that such charges are being objectively applied. Not that I think it would be justice or remotely resembling justice if the investigators in this case automatically tagged this as a hate crime just to justify the arbitrary applications in reversed situations. Two scoops of bullshit don’t make ice cream.

It’s all just a big whatever. Like any judge or prosecutor could convince an entire Baltimore city jury to convict these kids of a hate crime anyway. It would be a waste of time and money to even try to pursue a conviction if they throw “hate crime” into the mix, and would probably guarantee acquittals across the board if they did. If I was a prosecutor in this case, I would take hate crime off the table to improve my chances of getting convictions. And if I was a defense attorney in this case, there is no way I would take a plea if the defendants were facing hate crime charges. The smart move would be to move away from “hate crime” and just pursue the assault aspects of the case.

But do they even use juries in juvenile cases? What the fuck do I know.
